A rundown of our boat shenanigans would be awesome :)
[1/18/2015 10:24:46 PM] Dylan Gould: good point
[1/18/2015 10:25:04 PM] Dylan Gould: so far, we’ve had 3 encounters
[1/18/2015 10:25:11 PM | Edited 11:08:04 PM] Dylan Gould: you were there for the first 1.5
[1/18/2015 10:25:29 PM] Dylan Gould: first those 4 flying fiends came after us
[1/18/2015 10:27:13 PM] Dylan Gould: you cast sleep them, one crashes into the sea, Ryan’s Paladin turns the others, and we climbed up onto the Deadnought
[1/18/2015 10:27:34 PM] Dylan Gould: expecting to need to deal with them again later
[1/18/2015 10:29:22 PM] Dylan Gould: as we climbed up, 2 similar groups of enemies engaged us from both sides, although Klotonk 2 and I took an extra round getting up there
[1/18/2015 10:33:43 PM] Dylan Gould: these enemy groups were each composed of about 4 different types, but I honestly can’t tell you what they were, other than that each group had 1 Large dude, and each group had 1 dude that kind of looked similar to mummies/inculabim because they had wrappings with writing on them. Each group also had something like 6 or 8 other dudes of 2 other types, but they were much less trouble. All of these were Wroth cultists; none were undead.
[1/18/2015 10:34:12 PM] Dylan Gould: presumably most of them were human/humanoid
[1/18/2015 10:35:04 PM] Dylan Gould: the Paladin and I did decently at keeping them off most of the group, and Klotonk 1 got off a couple fireballs that wiped out most of the little guys
[1/18/2015 10:36:04 PM] Dylan Gould: in the process he discovered that the dudes with the wrappings could absorb spells, so he used the Evocation feature to sculpt spells around those targets so that they wouldn’t absorb them
[1/18/2015 10:36:40 PM] Dylan Gould: but that really pissed off the people who were left, who focused on K1
[1/18/2015 10:36:41 PM] Monasch: Oooooh, that’s cool. I recall making the roll for that and crit failing that shit.
[1/18/2015 10:37:00 PM] Monasch: fucker absorbed a level 4 spell ><
[1/18/2015 10:37:49 PM] Dylan Gould: so K1 probably took a decent amount of damage there, but he remained up, probably some healing happened – both the Paly and I cast some
[1/18/2015 10:38:30 PM] Dylan Gould: anyway, we finished off those 2 groups and then headed quickly towards the cannon
[1/18/2015 10:38:46 PM] Dylan Gould: you know, the target of our mission…
[1/18/2015 10:39:01 PM] Dylan Gould: …except that some people started looting bodies
[1/18/2015 10:39:16 PM] Dylan Gould: but anyway, they got to the next encounter eventually
[1/18/2015 10:40:03 PM] Dylan Gould: the route to the cannon appeared to be through this building, i guess the forecastle or whatever
[1/18/2015 10:40:41 PM] Dylan Gould: so we opened the door and went in (i think Cosmo needed to pick the lock for us)
[1/18/2015 10:41:19 PM] Dylan Gould: inside there were several giant fans that appeared to be part of some cooling system
[1/18/2015 10:42:29 PM] Dylan Gould: 4 of them were close to the door, and we heard mad voices saying crazy nonsense to each other, but we couldn’t see who was speaking at that point
[1/18/2015 10:42:48 PM] Dylan Gould: looking up, we could see a platform that led up to the cannon
[1/18/2015 10:43:15 PM] Dylan Gould: i’m not sure whether there was any clear way to access it, we probably needed to get close
[1/18/2015 10:43:17 PM] Dylan Gould: closer
[1/18/2015 10:43:36 PM] Dylan Gould: at that point i believe the 4 fiends returned
[1/18/2015 10:44:24 PM] Dylan Gould: they swooped down and went into the fan room, but we hadn’t actually gone in yet, i think they rushed ahead of us
[1/18/2015 10:44:45 PM] Dylan Gould: Kelly’s Rose Knight cast a Shatter spell on the nearest fan
[1/18/2015 10:45:11 PM] Monasch: I wonder.. was the fan made of dead bodies too? :D
[1/18/2015 10:45:16 PM] Dylan Gould: it exploded and fan shrapnel hit some of us (through the open door, I think)
[1/18/2015 10:45:27 PM] Monasch: (facepalm)
[1/18/2015 10:45:32 PM] Dylan Gould: i believe that was metal
[1/18/2015 10:45:55 PM] Dylan Gould: but as far as i recall, it also took out the fiends
[1/18/2015 10:46:03 PM] Monasch: Hah! Okay
[1/18/2015 10:46:21 PM] Monasch: I suppose that wasn’t an awful tradeoff then
[1/18/2015 10:46:35 PM] Dylan Gould: absolutely
[1/18/2015 10:47:40 PM] Dylan Gould: but we kept hearing the mad voices, so i guess people were reluctant to go back into the fan room
[1/18/2015 10:47:54 PM] Dylan Gould: so Yaup got antsy and charged in there
[1/18/2015 10:48:18 PM] Dylan Gould: and right away 3 Slaads came to make friends with him
[1/18/2015 10:49:15 PM] Dylan Gould: they had trouble biting through his armor, but they did get in some claw/bite attacks eventually
[1/18/2015 10:49:37 PM] Dylan Gould: and the Paly eventually rushed in to help, and most of the other crew
[1/18/2015 10:49:55 PM] Dylan Gould: one of the Klotonks (sorry, not sure which) cast Fly on himself
[1/18/2015 10:50:02 PM] Dylan Gould: he starts flying up to the platform
[1/18/2015 10:50:19 PM] Dylan Gould: but it’s high up there, so it’s gonna take him a few rounds
[1/18/2015 10:50:43 PM] Monasch: They both memorized fly, so it could be either. No sweat.
[1/18/2015 10:50:57 PM] Monasch: err, prepared. Whatever
[1/18/2015 10:51:07 PM] Monasch: What was Slaads?
[1/18/2015 10:51:10 PM] Dylan Gould: we made fairly short work of the first Slaad by focus firing
[1/18/2015 10:51:13 PM] Monasch: bipedal lizardy people?
[1/18/2015 10:51:17 PM] Dylan Gould: so they are… sort of
[1/18/2015 10:52:10 PM] Dylan Gould: they are big (Lage size, i think) toad-looking dudes with a red gem in one eye socket thats like wired to their head
[1/18/2015 10:52:21 PM] Dylan Gould: and they bite and claw a lot
[1/18/2015 10:52:40 PM] Dylan Gould: and they are very chaotic, which is why they talk all crazy-like
[1/18/2015 10:53:00 PM] Dylan Gould: so yeah
[1/18/2015 10:53:48 PM] Dylan Gould: as we move to the next one, Yaup decides that it looks like this thing with the glowing red gem for an eye seems to be pretty magical
[1/18/2015 10:54:29 PM] Dylan Gould: (the gems would glow at certain points, and I think that was helping them recover HP or something)
[1/18/2015 10:54:57 PM] Dylan Gould: so he decides to cast Dispel Magic on one
[1/18/2015 10:55:18 PM] Dylan Gould: at which point, its head explodes
[1/18/2015 10:55:33 PM] Dylan Gould: and blood sprays out all over Yaup
[1/18/2015 10:55:48 PM] Dylan Gould: which was glorious, but also made him feel funny in the head
[1/18/2015 10:57:14 PM] Dylan Gould: the body was still alive and moving, tho, so everybody else kept beating on it till it was most sincerely dead (didn’t take long after that)
[1/18/2015 10:57:56 PM] Dylan Gould: i’m not sure if we actually killed the 3rd one or we just sort of assumed that he wouldn’t be much trouble at this point
[1/18/2015 10:58:27 PM] Dylan Gould: we may have ended in the middle of this encounter, because it was pretty late
[1/18/2015 10:59:59 PM] Dylan Gould: but anyway, the Paly was able to cast some kind of helpful spell on Yaup – I don’t think it was Lesser Restoration, but I could be wrong. If not, it was along those lines, and this made Yaup cough up a disgusting Slaad embryo
[1/18/2015 11:00:27 PM] Dylan Gould: but he still feels funny in the head, so i guess there’s more horrors ahead
[1/18/2015 11:00:45 PM] Dylan Gould: that’s pretty much it.
[1/18/2015 11:01:35 PM] Dylan Gould: we may have exploded another fan, too
[1/18/2015 11:01:47 PM] Dylan Gould: lots of explosions this session = much glory
[1/18/2015 11:02:26 PM] Monasch: Niiiice
[1/18/2015 11:02:30 PM] Monasch: Sounds quite glorious
[1/18/2015 11:02:41 PM] Monasch: Slaad embryo huh?
[1/18/2015 11:03:11 PM] Monasch: Maziel isn’t here to tell us to NOT keep it…. >_>
[1/18/2015 11:04:11 PM] Dylan Gould: oh, it was did
[1/18/2015 11:04:14 PM] Dylan Gould: dead
[1/18/2015 11:04:27 PM] Monasch: If we’re not too far from it when we resume Friday (which I won’t be here for. damn ><)>< Sounds like it went decently smoothly though.
[7:29:11 AM] Monasch: and solid job all for keeping Knight of the Rose up. Glad to see he didn’t kick the bucket just yet.
[12:11:57 PM] Ryan Walters: My Klotonk turns were somewhat slow, since I only had a list of spells and didn’t know any details to most of them
[12:12:48 PM] Ryan Walters: there’s a couple of things I wanted to add that would interest you. I’ve blown a lot of spells for both Klotonks, as the Slaads had resistance to fire AND took half damage from spells, and they stacked
[12:13:42 PM] Ryan Walters: The fiends weren’t just killed by the shatter though; at the entrance to the fan system at the start of the fight, I had cast Fire Wall, accelerating the fans and burning the harpy fiends. I think the following shatter finished doing them in
[12:13:58 PM] Ryan Walters: Oh, the mummy wrappings were inculabem
[12:14:17 PM] Ryan Walters: Klotonk got obsessed with them for about 6 seconds before Yaup took the body and threw it onto the boat
[12:14:28 PM] Kelly Mangerino: LOL and splattered
[12:14:29 PM] Ryan Walters: (about a 100 feet down, kind of a puddle now)
[12:14:30 PM] Kelly Mangerino: LOL
[12:14:33 PM] Kelly Mangerino: that was the best part
[12:15:22 PM] Ryan Walters: the Klotonk that flew up inside of the cannon eventually decided he couldn’t do much against the slaad and began focusing on sabotaging the cannon. His knowledge gave him some ways to do it but it would take a while
[12:15:36 PM] Ryan Walters: he decided not to fireball some metal supports in an obviously blistering hot environment
[12:16:15 PM] Ryan Walters: so I tried to cast a second Confusion spell as well on the slaads, but in addition to being magic resistant, also existed in a state of pure chaos and weren’t affected by it anyway
[12:16:31 PM | Edited 12:16:54 PM] Ryan Walters: also, the gem that Dylan spoke of cast wildmagic when hit by spells
[12:17:10 PM] Ryan Walters: fluumps appeared around Klotonk at one point and wandered off
[12:17:47 PM] Ryan Walters: finally, the 3rd slaad we didn’t actually kill because the wild magic cast Reincarnate on him. After he died, he transformed into a wood elf
[12:18:22 PM] Ryan Walters: Kiin was very insistent on not killing him
[12:18:30 PM] Ryan Walters: Yaup wants pretty badly to throw him into the fans
[12:18:52 PM] Ryan Walters: but! Kiin told the Wood Elf if he fights with us, he can live. Also, do you know where the king is?
[12:19:18 PM] Ryan Walters: and the wood elf said “Oh, I know where he is! He’s in the ‘pleasure dome’, below deck!”
[12:19:22 PM] Ryan Walters: and that’s where we are at
[3:07:45 PM] Monasch: Heh, he would be obsessed with the Inculabem bodies. XD
[3:08:02 PM] Monasch: so, one Klotonk is MIA right now?
[3:08:25 PM] Max: [Sunday, January 18, 2015 10:39 PM] Dylan Gould:
<<< …except that some people started looting bodieslol
[3:08:46 PM] Max: So the Dagons are waiting with the other party right now right?
[3:47:48 PM] Monasch: Yeah, I think we was part of the airship party.
[3:48:36 PM] Ryan Walters: double dagon on the airship
[3:48:46 PM] Ryan Walters: one Klotonk is sabotaging the cannon
[3:48:56 PM] Ryan Walters: the other was fighting the slaads as best he could
[3:49:18 PM] Max: okay cool
[3:49:19 PM] Max: nice
[3:49:20 PM] Ryan Walters: both have used a bunch of spells
[3:49:48 PM] Max: were they all absorbed or was that figured out pretty early
[3:53:12 PM] Monasch: “fluumps appeared around Klotonk at one point and wandered off” ?
[3:53:57 PM] Monasch: probably 2 were absorbed. A level 4 and probably a fireball, and then someone realized what was happening.
[3:54:17 PM] Monasch: that was a cool application of spell sculpt.
[4:00:09 PM] Ryan Walters: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flumph
[4:00:44 PM] Ryan Walters: wild magic on the slaads made 4 flumphs appear out of thin air surrounding klotonk
[4:00:49 PM] Ryan Walters: they had an exchange and flew off
[4:10:47 PM] Monasch: an… exchange?
[4:11:01 PM] Monasch: an exchange of words, I assume?
[4:11:44 PM] Monasch: do you know what was said, or did X keep it secret for now?
[4:23:34 PM] Ryan Walters: it was banter of “Holy shit, where are we?!”
[4:23:39 PM] Ryan Walters: and things to that effect
[4:24:02 PM] Ryan Walters: wild magic is chaotic, after all
[4:29:41 PM] Monasch: fair enough
